According to figures from Bracelpa (Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association), the Brazilian pulp and paper
production remained stable from January to September this year compared to 2011. In the accumulated result,
pulp production totaled 10.4 million tons while paper production reached 7.6 million tons.
The domestic market continues to post good performance results. With 4.0 million tons, paper sales in the country grew
by 3.5% in the period January to September, in comparison with the same period last year. Pulp sales in the country totaled 1.2
million tons which represents a growth of 6.3% in the 2012 accumulated result, in comparison with the three quarters of 2011.
Export revenues totaled US$ 4.9 billion from January to September, as compared with US$ 5.4 billion in the same 2011 period,
i.e., an accumulated 9.2% drop.
During a conference organized by ABTCP, the Brazilian Technical Pulp and Paper Association, its president noted that the pulp
and paper industry is building its vision of the future based on biorefinery studies and their multiple applications.
